I gaze upon the wooden cross there upon the wall,
It's only a plain and simple thing, not fanciful at all.
I feel the spirit of my Lord, as on my knees I pray,
And I thank Him with a humble heart for giving me this day.
I give thanks for many blessings, and I ask forgiveness too,
For unkind things I may have done, I'll start tomorrow new.
The cross is a reminder that Jesus died for me,
And God's love is all around us,
If we open our eyes to see.
Heavenly Father, help me to always keep my heart clean,
To live honestly and fearlessly
That no outward failure can dishearten me.
Or take away the joy of concious integrity.
Open wide the eyes of my soul,
That I may see good in all things.
Grant me this day some new visions of your truth,
Inspire me with the spirit of joy and gladness.
Help me to faithfully be concerned for the needs of others,
In the name of Jesus Christ...........Amen
